Thank You Volunteers and Parents - 2006

We are thankful for people who cheerfully grill,
No matter the heat, no matter the chill.
For those who serve up a coke and a smile
Though the line goes on back for about half a mile.

We are thankful for those who would stay up all night
To watch our kids ‘rock’ til the dawn’s early light.
And for those who brought to the non-sleeping scene
Snacks, breakfast and quantities of full-strength caffeine.

We are thankful for roadies who schlep all we own
With nary a whimper and nary a moan.
In fact, as a load is ready to tote & to tow,
Will still ask, “Anything else need to go?”

We are thankful for those who take care of details
Like buttons and make-up and broken nails
And cushions and band-aids and the other glove
And … the other gauntlet…and all with much love.

We are thankful for they that transformed courtyard space
Into a wonderful, paparazzi-filled Hollywood place
With lights and with action and with plenty of plants
And with quiches & sausage balls brought to the dance

We are thankful for those who run triathlon communications,
And one who throws parties with ladies’ decorations.
And one who updates and improves our website
So we know where to be this Saturday night.

We are thankful for those who would drive and would mow
And would write and would fold and would count and chaperone
And would fix and repair and would say with a smile,
Yes, that was quite something, but it was all worthwhile.
